Lepticrosalides® are a complex of bioactive compounds believed to be responsible for the beneficial properties of Affron® saffron extract. The group of compounds includes saffron, safranal, and crocin isomers. Studies of saffron supplements containing Lepticrosalides indicate their role in saffron extract’s support for positive mood and sleep.
Research suggests that the combination of saffron and rhodiola (also known as golden root) could support mood-related concerns. However, further study is needed to confirm these results. Studies indicate that taking saffron and rhodiola together is safe; participants did not report serious adverse effects.
Saffron may provide mood support by modulating levels of key neurotransmitters including serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the body. These neurotransmitters help your nervous system control functions including mood, sleep patterns, and the “fight or flight” response.
