Live Brighter. These two words are central to Solaray’s mission and everything we do. We knew we had to bring them to life in a way that did justice to our rich heritage of quality. What better method than film? Watch the result: Our Live Brighter Anthem.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we did it:
Utah Made.
After returning from Vietnam in 1973, our founder, Jim Beck, began creating herbal blends in his Utah home—to help himself and others find the way back to better health. Solaray was born in Utah, where an abundance of natural resources and cool, dry climate create the ideal circumstances to manufacture supplements. And we remain here today, with offices in Salt Lake City and Park City and a state-of-the-art research, testing, and production facility in Ogden.
It just made sense to showcase the natural beauty of our home. We filmed across the peaks, plains, mountains, and valleys in our own backyard—some of the most serene and
magnificent landscapes in the country.
Antelope Island
Surrounded by the Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island is the heart of Utah. A short, 30-minute drive from SLC transports you back to a time when bison herds roamed free. There are 28,000 acres to explore, with stunning 360-degree, panoramic views of the lake and state’s iconic mountain ranges.
Sundance
Made famous by Robert Redford, the rustic Sundance Resort is located 55 minutes southeast of SLC, surrounded by towering pine trees and old-world charm. Sundance is home to 28 full-time residents but attracts nearly 50,000 people each year for its famed Sundance Film Festival.
Little Sahara
Located 100 miles south of SLC, Little Sahara is a desert oasis surrounded by the Wasatch Mountains. Over time, strong winds created 124 square miles of fine sand dunes near the dried-up Sevier River. This state park is one of the largest dune fields in Utah.
Bryce Canyon
One of Utah’s famous five national parks, Bryce Canyon is world-renowned for its red
rocks: tall, sedimentary, and igneous spires called “hoodoos,” which are formed by natural erosion over thousands of years. The view from Inspiration Point offers one of the most alluring panoramic sunrises in not only the Beehive State, but across the world.
On Film.
To honor our legacy and our future, we shot the video on 16mm film with five renowned Hawk Anamorphic camera lenses (of which there are only seven in existence). This classic medium allowed us to create a timeless narrative and to bring to the shoot the same level of precision and detail we apply to creating our efficacious supplements. As a result, we feel this creative endeavor best represents our central passion to support you in your pursuit of wellness and help you realize your health goals: to help you Live Brighter and embrace the moments that matter most.
The visuals captured by these rare lenses captured the attention of Berlin Commercial. The Live Brighter Anthem made the Official Selection List and then the Shortlist for their 2022 awards.
Our Partners.
To create the video, we partnered with Modo, a leading Utah-based creative production agency, and the acclaimed MATTE Projects, the creative force behind many of the world’s leading lifestyle brands.
We asked Matt Rowean, Chief Creative Officer and one of the founding partners of MATTE Projects, about his time filming with us and what Live Brighter means to him:
“Live Brighter is a call to action to live more deeply, more meaningfully, and to leave a greater impact on the world in a positive way. The film MATTE Projects created with Solaray highlights the effortless beauty of Utah and the natural world and reminds me that the simplest instances in life can be the most amazing—and, that optimal wellness is critical in order to fully enjoy those moments.”
We couldn’t agree more.
